2021 Tour Championship Fantasy golf rankings, selection: Back Jon Rahm, fade Patrick Cantlay in FedEx Cup Playoffs
Jon Rahm will try to close out a turbulent but massively successful season with a statement when the PGA Tour Tour Championship 2021 starts Thursday at East Lake Golf Club. The world No. 1 player enters the FedEx Cup Playoffs final with a four-stroke deficit, but has been the most consistent player on tour this season. He has four top-three finishes, and that doesn’t include the Memorial Tournament in June. He was forced to withdraw from this event while having a lead of six strokes due to a positive COVID test. He had to miss the Olympics after another positive test, but won the US Open and enters the Tour Championship as the second favorite. Patrick Cantlay, who starts at 10 under par, is the 7-2 favorite in Caesars Sportsbooks latest 2020 Tour Championship golf opportunities with Rahm just behind at 4-1.
Will Bryson DeChambeau (5-1) come back from a terrific second place last week to put you in a strong position to win with your 2021 Tour Championship Fantasy golf picks? Or will Tony Finau (7-1) rise to the top and give you a big chance? Before you lock down any Fantasy golf rankings or bet on the 2021 Tour Championship, make sure you watch Fantasy golf rankings from PGA expert Riley Gates.

Gates is all-in on Rahm because the Spaniard has done nothing to get anyone to question his worth. He has been in the top-10 in 14 of 21 tournaments this season, and the positive COVID tests and the birth of his first child just before the Masters did not distract him. His first major win marked him as a great player, and a FedEx title would cement that. He finished fifth at Augusta, was T-8 at the PGA and followed up his US Open victory with a T-3 at the British Open. He leads the tour in scoring averages and has finished in the top-12 all four times at the Tour Championship.
On the other hand, Cantlay’s consistency has been less than desirable, and Gates is fading him in Atlanta. The 29-year-old has three wins this season, but he has made the top 10 six times while missing the average five times in 23 tournaments. He has consistently averaged on East Lake, finishing 20th once and 21st twice in three pears, shooting 70 in the first round after both of his wins this year. He tied for 17th and was T-15 in those events. Cantlay was solid all-round in the Caves Valley, but Gates is not sure he will repeat it and supports other options.
